ABOUT ME
Megan Jensen is a cinematographer, director, and producer whose work typically focuses on queer storytelling in fantastical worlds.Growing up in Las Vegas—"Sin City"—has profoundly shaped their artistic lens, influencing their worldview and challenging traditional perceptions of normality.
Collaboration is very important for Megan as they find a lot of value in the relationships formed through production especially those made with other queer folks through producing. Megan’s interest in producing came from wanting other queer storytellers to feel like their crazy ideas could be done, even at a low budget. Megan strongly believes in having a producer that not only believes in the concept but also relates to it. However, when it comes to cinematography, directing, or writing Megan loves to immerse themselves fully in the world of the film through what they describe as “method acting for pre-production” which includes themed playlists and Pinterest boards.
Inspired by trailblazers like Jane Schoenbrun and Greta Gerwig, Megan focuses on telling profoundly human stories, even in the most surreal settings—whether it’s a world of plastic dolls or glowing TVs. Through their work, Megan strives to create a sense of community, both on set and with audiences. They hope viewers leave their films feeling understood amid the absurdity of modern life, encouraged to examine their own worldviews, and inspired to embrace the extraordinary.
